Shark leather is not scaled in any conventional sense. The surface is covered in denticles — mineralized calcium structures fused directly into the hide that function as natural armor. They give shark leather its distinctive matte texture, its extraordinary abrasion resistance, and its capacity to outlast nearly every other exotic leather under hard use.

The denticle armor is not penetrable by surface application. Heavy conditioning oils spread across the denticle peaks and stop. They cloud the matte texture and provide no meaningful nourishment to the tissue beneath the armor layer where the hide actually lives. You've conditioned the armor. You haven't touched the leather.
